The importance of hyperbolic conservation laws for scientific and industrial applications has led to a growing amount of research activities in this field. The school will focus on recent trends in theory and numerics for hyperbolic conservation laws and related topics. Internationally recognized experts will give lectures at graduate level that will include actual research results.
The intended audience are students who plan to work in this field and researchers who want to open up a new scope of work. Knowledge of modern methods in partial differential equations specifically with basic concepts for hyperbolic equations is prerequisited.



The school is sponsored by the Graduiertenkolleg
"Nichtlineare Differentialgleichungen, Modellierung, Theorie, Numerik, Visualisierung"
and is organised by the Institut für Angewandte Mathematik at the University of Freiburg.




Some organisatory hints

The school will take place at the Volksbildungsheim Waldhof in Freiburg/Littenweiler. The Volksbildungsheim Waldhof provides single rooms and full board at the price of DM 90 per day. The conference fee is DM 50, to be transfered together with the lodging costs to the schools bank account till August 31th, 1997 (see registration form).
The arrival and registration of participiciants will be on Sunday, October the 20th from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm at the Volksbildungsheim Waldhof. The number of participants who do not belong to the Graduiertenkolleg ''Nichtlineare Differentialgleichungen, Modellierung, Theorie, Numerik, Visualisierung'' will be restricted to 40.
A poster session will be provided to enable the participiciants to present their recent results.
